What are the minimum entry requirements?
For entry to mechanical Engineering N1-N2, you require:
- Grade 10; or
- Grade 12 Certificate; or
- Equivalent qualification
For entry in to the Mechanical Engineering N3, you require:
- N2 Certificate; or
- Grade 12; or
- Equivalent qualification
For entry in to the Mechanical Engineering N4-6, you require:
- N3-N5 Certificate; or
- Equivalent qualification
Which subjects make up a Mechanical Engineering?
In order to obtain a NATED National Certificate (Mechanical Engineering N1-N2), a student is required to take a total of 4 subjects.
- Mathematics
- Engineering science
- Drawing or planting and structural steel drawing (PSSD)
- Fitting or platters theory
In order to obtain NATED National Certificate (Mechanical Engineering N3), a student is required to take a total of 4 subjects.
- Mathematics
- Engineering science
- Engineering drawing or planting and structural steel drawing (PSSD)
- Mechano technology
In order to obtain a NATED National Certificate (Mechanical Engineering N4-6), a student is required to take a total of 4 subjects.

How long is the qualification?
- It’s a full or part time three (3) months programme at each of the NATED (N). A student is issued with a certificate on the successful completion of each NATED of study that is N1, 2,3,4,5 and 6.
